Saving Animals & Finding Homes

About our founder, Tracey

After fostering several griffons in England and learning about the terrible abuse that Spanish Griffon dogs endure, I decided to move to Galicia, northern Spain. Casa de Griffon was established five years ago to rescue as many dogs as possible from the horrendous abuse they suffer here.”

In December 2024, Casa de Griffon became Hope for Hounds Rescue to include more breeds than the Griffon. Today, we focus on rescuing Griffons, Beagles and Podencos as the preferred breeds of Northern Spain.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

We work to raise awareness about the plight of Spain’s hunting dogs. In Galicia, a major hunting region, breeds like Griffons, Beagles, and Podencos are commonly used—and too often discarded when they’re no longer “useful.”

Many end up in overcrowded municipal pounds, where several hundred dogs may be confined at any given time. They live in barren concrete cages, day and night, unless rescued or adopted. Among them are elderly, pregnant females, ex-hunting dogs with visible signs of abuse, and others left tethered on short chains, forgotten.

Our mission is to get them out—and into homes where they are finally seen for what they are: loyal, loving, and deserving of care.
