Finding Paddington: A Rescue Story That Changed Two Lives

When Emmy travelled to northern Spain to volunteer at Casa Da Griffon, she expected to help rescue dogs in need. She didn’t expect to meet the dog who would change her own life forever. This is the story of how one unforgettable encounter became a lifelong friendship.

Meeting Paddington at Hope for Hounds (back then it was called Casa Da Griffon) in Spain was one of the most special moments of my life, and adopting him has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I first had the privilege of volunteering alongside Tracey at the rescue in Northern Spain in 2023, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication, compassion, and hard work she pours into every dog in her care. Spending time with the dogs each day gave me a real appreciation for the challenges of rescue work, but also for the love and commitment that makes it all worthwhile.

It was during my time there that I met Paddington. Like so many of the dogs Tracey rescues, he deserved a second chance, and I instantly fell in love with him. Meeting him in person in Spain before bringing him home made the experience even more meaningful. Tracey took the time to share her knowledge and experience with me, guiding me through every step of the adoption process and ensuring that both Paddington and I were fully prepared for our new life together.

From arranging the practicalities of the adoption to offering support, advice, and reassurance, Tracey was there every step of the way. Her expertise and genuine care made what could have been a daunting process feel smooth and manageable. Thanks to her guidance, I was able to successfully bring Paddington home, where he has become a much-loved member of my family and the gentlest soul.

I will always be grateful to Tracey for rescuing Paddington and for the opportunity she gave me to learn from her. The love, care, and dedication she shows every dog are truly remarkable. Casa Da Griffon/Hope for Hounds is more than a rescue; it is a place where dogs are given hope, healing, and the chance to find the loving homes they deserve.
