My dear Jane,
I have been meaning to send you an update on The Boss and Controller of my life, along with some photos, but the kids are better with tech than I am and will show me how to send them to you.

Raffi had nearly arranged my life and his to perfection. He is a tireless schemer, and I knew he was curious about where I go at night and why little white Minke sometimes follows me. He is never in a rush, which makes me feel quite secure. About two months ago, in the summer, he chose the coolness of the old brick floor in the hall to sleep on. He takes his time. He’s a really cool dude.
He slept there for a while, and one morning I found him lying across the bedroom threshold. The next night, he wandered upstairs with Minke and lay on the floor by my side of the bed. He did this for several nights.
Now he comes straight up and, last night, lay on my late husband’s side and slept deeply right next to me, with his black head on the freshly laundered pillow 😳
So, that’s another target reached!

He is happy to get in the tailgate and drive to a walk, and if I’m in the deep countryside, he will run and run, generally returning to me, now waiting in the car, in about 20 minutes, but last time it took an hour! He has a glossy coat now as I put a little organic (!!) olive oil on his fresh meat, boiled rice, or organic veggies – he loves being fed properly and chivvies me if I’m a bit late. Soon, he will want room service. Best of all is our devotion to each other: he loves me unreservedly and passionately and is so happy with his new life here. He kisses me at every opportunity. It is very humbling. And he and Minke are best friends and, thank God and St. Francis, have stopped digging deep tunnels under the deer fencing. They are now trying to dig up the bones of all our other dogs!
